Nominating Committee Comments

Incumbent Jeremy Burkett can tie research to production and teach it to college students. His role fosters Gen Z, a primary audience for the 2025 market growth campaign, and he is the eyes and ears for how they perceive pork, pigs and pig farming. Outside of demand, his high-technology collegiate farm teaches modern commercial functions, helping students gain hands-on experience.

Along with having a meat science background, he has been involved in key task forces, laying the groundwork for the upcoming campaign. He truly wants to see all the work he, the staff and the board completed through research, activation and measurement. Burkett won’t be the first to talk, but his academic perspective will allude to thinking first and speaking eloquently. His leadership style is to challenge the status quo, reach a consensus and identify different dynamics for a team.
