Biography
Pat Bane owns Bane Family Pork Farm LLC, a breed-to-wean sow farm expanding to a 3,000-sow closed herd farm with internal gilt multiplication. Bane is a current board member with a wealth of experience with NPB priorities. In 2018, he embodied an NPB program highlighting America’s pig farmers’ commitment to pigs, people and the planet by completing the noble responsibilities of America’s Pig Farmer of the Year.
Prior to that, he was his county Farm Bureau board president (1998-2002) and served as a board member for 26 years. In addition, Bane has been awarded the Illinois Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom Volunteer of the Year (2023), attended the Animal Care EU Tour with Illinois Farm Bureau (2012) and attended a three-week agriculture exchange in Germany through the McCloy Fellowship (2002).

National Pork Board Knowledge
As a board member seeking re-election, Bane is directly involved in the Human Nutrition task force. Domestic market development is a challenge he highlighted, and he can be highly engaged and carry this work forward and may add value to pork.
Leadership, Communication, Attitude and Passion
Bane is direct, calm and thoughtful in his comments and would have the historical knowledge and planning experience of multi-million-dollar investments, like the Real Pork Trust Consortium. He knows when to speak, and people listen intently. He is thoughtful in seeking re-election and considering what is right for his family and fellow board members.
