Biography
Gordon Spronk, DVM, has been a partner in a multi-generational diversified farrow-to-finish and cropping farm, Spronk Brothers III, based in Edgerton, Minnesota, since 1981. Spronk Brothers III markets more than 275,000 pigs per year. The family farm also includes more than 3,000 acres of corn and soybeans. Additionally, Gordon is a staff veterinarian for Pipestone Veterinary Services and was chair of the board for Pipestone Holdings (2002-2021).
Gordon is active in the pork industry, serving on several National Pork Board (NPB) and National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) committees and task forces, including as the president of NPB. His past service includes the NPPC Animal Health committee, NPPC African Swine Fever (ASF) task force and the NPPC ASF working group, NPB Executive committee, NPB Compliance committee and USMEF Executive committee. Prior to his first NPB term, he served on NPPC’s board of directors and has advocated for continued development and support of the U.S. Swine Health Improvement Plan, which is now a USDA program.
