Daniel Tubbs — Alabama

Biography

Since 2006, Daniel Tubbs has been a niche producer, raising 30 sows farrow-to-finish. On his farm, he manages 365 acres of pasture and timber, including 100 tons of hay, and raises 30 cow/calf pairs and 150 feeder calves annually. He has been a certified animal welfare specialist with Validus since 2011.

In addition to the Pork Leadership Institute and one year on the NPB Board of Directors, Tubbs has been involved in the Alabama Pork Producers Association since 2016, holding the chairman position since 2019. Tubbs also participated in the Alabama Farmers Federation Leadership program (2016-2018). Finally, he is a board member of his local County Farmers Federation and farmers co-op.

Nominating Committee Comments

Daniel Tubbs stands apart because he can respectfully relate to and teach producers of various production types, operation sizes and ages as he meets with them in his career as an on-farm auditor. He travels nationwide to visit producers of a spectrum of operation types and sizes.

His talent for recognizing specific action items in auditing, an increasingly important subject matter, can be transferred to the board. For example, Tubbs acted above and beyond when he saw a need to change the Common Swine Industry Audit and worked with the appropriate parties to provide science-based evidence. Further, he truly “walks the walk” on his own farm from a well-being standpoint and participates in the Checkoff-funded Pork Cares Farm Impact Report.
